Kids and the Internet

We're entering a new phase with my daughter. Suddenly, she wants to be on the internet. She brings home lists of internet sites she is supposed to work on for school. She sees website addresses on TV and wants to play games or check them out. I suddenly get email requests for parental approval on sites like "Horseland."

We only have laptops in our family and have established some pretty firm rules since she is still really young. She is not allowed to change websites without having us sit down with her and make sure she types it in right before hitting enter. She cannot take the computer into her room. She has to be in the kitchen or living room with it. She is not allowed to sign up for anything or print anything without asking our permission. (Didn't quite work the other day when I saw the Horseland account in my inbox). She has a set amount of time she is allowed to be on the internet unless she is working on a school project. We set the microwave timer to help us regulate how much game time and free time she is allowed on the internet.

What other rules should we be establishing? And, does anyone know of any children's diabetes games online that might teach her about diabetes??
